Electroplated diamond grinding wheel is a diamond grinding wheel made by electrochemical method. The working layer of the grinding wheel contains diamond abrasive grains, and the diamond abrasive is bonded to the substrate by a metal binder. First, the thickness of the metal binder is deposited to be 20% of the height of the diamond abrasive grains (sanding), and then the diamond abrasive grains are bonded (thickened) with a metal binder, and the thickness is about 2/3 of the height of the abrasive grains. Including diamond dressing grinding wheel, grinding or cutting diamond grinding wheel.
Advantages of electroplated diamond grinding wheel:
The electroplating process is simple, with low investment and convenient manufacturing; ②No need for dressing, easy to use; ③The single-layer structure determines that it can reach a very high working speed, which is currently as high as 250-300m/s abroad; ④Although there is only a single layer of diamond, it still has enough life; ⑤For roller grinding wheels with high precision requirements, electroplating is the only manufacturing method.
Precisely because of these advantages, high-speed and ultra-high-speed grinding of electroplated grinding wheels occupies an undisputed dominant position.
Electroplated diamond grinding wheels have defects:
There is no strong chemical metallurgical bond between the plated metal and the substrate and abrasive bonding surface. The abrasive is actually only mechanically embedded in the plated metal, so the holding force is small, the diamond particles are heavily loaded and easy to fall off during high-efficiency grinding (or the coating flakes off), resulting in overall failure; in order to increase the holding force, the coating thickness must be increased, resulting in a reduced chip space with exposed height of the abrasive particles, easy clogging of the grinding wheel, poor heat dissipation, and easy burns on the workpiece surface. At present, domestic electroplated grinding wheel manufacturing has not yet achieved the optimization design of the grinding wheel according to the processing conditions. These inherent disadvantages of single-layer electroplated diamond grinding wheels will inevitably greatly limit its high-efficiency grinding application.
